The Bioethics and Safety Act (Article 24, Clause 3) supports the accuracy assessment of tests performed by genetic testing agencies. KSLM and KSP have been approved by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs to be responsible for implementation of accuracy assessments - that is, conducting and reviewing various clinical tests for the management of test accuracy, in accordance with the enforcement regulations (Article 15, Clause 2), which mandates the designation of parties with experience and expertise in accuracy assessment for implementation purposes. Meanwhile, the non-profit foundation was established through the collaboration between the following genetic testing organizations: KSLM, which have managed the quality control of clinical tests for 30 years; KSMG, offering expertise in genetic disease research; and the Korean Society for Legal Medicine, which specializes in genetic testing for personal identification.
